I have a new server running Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1.2015.2015.  Since the server has been running, it continually gets:

December 13, 2012 8:24:36 AM PST:  LiveUpdate failed.
    December 13, 2012 8:24:36 AM PST:  LUALL.EXE finished running.
December 13, 2012 8:24:36 AM PST:  LiveUpdate encountered one or more errors. Return code = 4.
December 13, 2012 8:24:34 AM PST:  LUALL.EXE has been launched.

The server is not behind a proxy.

I have worked with tech support on this in the past and they had me completely uninstall LiveUpdate, delete the folders, the reinstall LiveUpdate.  That worked for a few days, and now it's back to "Return code = 4".

If I go in and manually delete LiveUpdate's cache (the content it downloads) after turning off the service, then turn the service back on and let LiveUpdate run, that temporarily fixes it.  After a few days, it goes back to Return code = 4.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

LiveUpdate encountered one or more errors Return code = 4 is a Generic Error.

Could you please upload the log.liveupdate?

That would help us understand the root cause of the issue.

Again, are you using any proxy?

Did you try disabling the Windows Firewall on the machine and checked ?

Also, When uninstalling and reinstalling LiveUpdate, are you using the correct client for SEP 12.1?

Make sure you are using Liveupdate version 3.3.1.23- nothing earlier!
