    Hi!

So symantec endpoint protection needs an update, but when I press the live update button it says

"LU1803: Live update failed while getting your updates

Live Update had an internal error while getting your updates. Your Symantec products were not updated.

You should try getting updates at a later time, if LiveUpdate fails again with the same error, you should reinstall LiveUpdate"

I have tried reinstalling and waiting. The same error occurs.

So, how do I fix it?

    Hi,

99% of cases, LU does not work due to connectivity issues (proxy, firewall, DNS, etc.)

LiveUpdate connections are based on HTTP and FTP protocols, you can see more details about that error in log.liveupdate or in wireshark captures.

    Regards,

and by the way you should delete LU files in your hard drive before install it again.

    Best Regards.

    Hi DamonF,

Can you attach the log.liveupdate (or at least the information from the latest session that ws run) for a closer look?

Also: what SEP version are you using?  And how are you attempting to update- from an internal LUA 2.x server, from the SEPM, or directly from the interent?  What's the OS of the computer, and does it go through a proxy-?

    Thanks and best regards,

    Mick

    Hello,

    I agree with Mick.

To Understand exactly what is causing this issue, we need to check the Log.liveupdate.

    Could you grab the Log.liveupdate from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate ?

I would also suggest you to go through the links of the Video's of Troubleshooting Liveupdate provided above by chetan.

Part 2 & Part 3 provides the solution.

However, I would suggest to go through all video's. It shows how to troubleshoot the common issues and  basic troubleshooting.
