LiveUpdate Packet Size reaching 1GB
it has been a problem for several months now in our firm, that the Live Update package sizes are reaching 1GB daily (exclusively through Virus Definitions). Our setup is that every hour the LUA server is searching for new updates on the Symantec server and then distributes it to the connected clients. This works well for about 4 hours, then LUA server won't request updates for several hours until almost exclusively at night it starts to request an update, which then is about 1GB in size.
This would not be a problem with the proper network bandwidth, but in my company we somtimes only have 2MB connections to our remote stations. And pushing out 1GB to several clients over a 2MB connections is not very amusing.
So after reading a couple of discussions in the forum, i am really confused since in every discussion i read, it is mentioned that the daily update package size, will never be greater then 50MB. And i am not really sure how Virus Defintions can reach a size of 1GB. So please can i get some advice on how to make the packages smaller or make the LUA server really connect hourly to the Symantec server to request updates.
