I'm running Enterprise A/V version 10.1.5.5000.  In this case I'm doing a client unmanaged install on an XP  Professional machine.  After downloading the initial update the installation progress bar goes to 99% and then a message box pops up stating "LiveUpdate was unable to update virus and security-risk definitions on your computer.  Make sure that your system disk is not full and then run LiveUpdate again.".  My disk has plenty of space and I've done this a number of times over the past few months on identical machines with also with XP Pro and have not had this problem before.

try uninstalling any previous versions before upgrading/installing a new. There is a tool that will completely rid you of the .reg entries.

I'm having this same problem.  I tried the tool to remove Symantec Antivirus and I am still getting the same error message.

Running Symantec Antivirus Enterprise 10.x with Clients running 3.x

And our Antivirus server has not downloaded any defintions since 9/10/2008.
