  • 1.  LiveUpdate problem

    Hi. I'm running Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.1.7. Last week, 2 servers began having problems downloading the Live Updates. I get the following message: "There is not enough free disk space to download this update". Return code = 1866. I've got well over 100gb free on the server. I can download the "Intelligent Update" just fine. Any ideas what's going on?

     Re-install the live update. manually download the LU Setup and install it.

    DCOM settings are not correct for usage with Symantec Endpoint Protection updates. Plesae go through the following link:

     you can also check for the temporary folder in the root drive, and also as stated above try to install live update again manually..

    The only solution is to reinstall live update manually.

    Virus Definitions can be corrupt .You can run RX4Defs and that might resolve your issue.

    Check out the settings and theInternet time out in Liveupdate settings. Make sure no proxy interferrence is there

    You can also try to uninstall the Live Update setup and then reinstall it by downloading the latest Live Update setup file from Symantec web site.

    Agreed samiron7567, Internet timeout may also solve the problem and it is advisable to try out this one first before uninstalling the LU.

    DCOM settings are fine.

    Where is the timeout setting for LiveUpdate? I did clear my LU cache and increased the size. It then started the download of updates, but crapped out again with the disk space error again.

    Sorry, been offsite for a day or so. :)

    Ok...I found where to change the timeout setting. Upped it to 95 seconds, no change. Guess I'll have to uninstall and reinstall LiveUpdate.

    Uninstalled LiveUpdate and reinstalled. No luck. Strange how this rolled along smoothly all these months and then it just stops for no apparent reason. No system or network changes.

    It gets part way through the live update and then it crashes and burns.

    Paul - I verified the Default Access Permissions in dcomcnfg and they were correct. I then set up the scheduled task to test the System account rights. Here's the info from the liveupdate log:  (I've got well over 100gb of space available on the server.)

    I have seen similar issues when downloading large files if the proxy is using all of it's cache space.  May want to check the content engines or proxy for space issues as well?

    mk_sep_admin is correct, you could have polices not allowing to download big file sizes. Check with your network ops team.

    Make sure also you dont have disk quotas.. What is the free size of drive C?

    We're a small shop. I'm the network/server admin.  No policies for download size. There is 129 Gb free on my c: drive. No quotas being enforced on this server. I haven't checked the cache on the proxy server yet. Will do that as soon as I can. I do appreciate you guys' input. Thanks.

    Still no luck here. Downloading the .xdb file daily. No proxy/web/content filtering. DCOM settings are correct. Plenty of hard drive space. Any other ideas out there?

    Running LU from the task scheduler did not work either. Results:

    But do you use a proxy server?
