I am having a problem with the LiveUpdate schedule through my SEPM (v12.1.5). After speaking to Symantec Support, they recommended I use a Scheduled Task to run LiveUpdate.

So far so good. My task is created and it ran successfully the first time.

 

My problem now is that the scheduled task starts, but does not complete.

After some troubleshooting, it appears that the Express Mode Settings for "Automatically start the session when LiveUpdate is launched" is not saved.

If I manually type luall.exe now, I still need to click Start to start the actual update process.

 

Does anyone know how I can make the Express Mode Settings remain saved so that the LiveUpdate process will run and complete?

Why did they say to create a scheduled task? What is causing the issue and why can't it be fixed. Ideally this should run on the SEPM and it will handle it. Are there errors in the log.lue file?

Under "Show the LiveUpdate status" in SEPM, the "Next LiveUpdate time" is April 3.

The Symantec engineer was unable to fix that issue, so the workaround they suggested was a Scheduled Task.

There is no error in log file as far as I know, because LiveUpdate really never starts due to the past date mentioned.

So last night, LiveUpdate scheduled task ran successfully.

Only change I did was to once again save the setting for "Automatically start the session when LiveUpdate is launched". Not sure what made it stay saved this time around, but not the past few times I saved it.
