LiveUpdate Server email server SMTP port

Created: 19 Mar 2013 | 2 comments

Hi,

I am trying to confiugre the LiveUpdate server (v. 2.3) to use a nonstandard SMTP port for sending out notifications but there is no port field on the configuration screen for me to do so. I tried servername.domain.com:8025 but that didn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this work?

Thanks,

Tom

Did you have a look at the server.xml file? Right click an open in notepad

Should be located in C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\tomcat\conf by default

Please click the "Mark as solution" link at bottom left on the post that best answers your question. This will benefit admins looking for a solution to the same problem.

Hi Tom,

The file ...\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\tomcat\webapps\lua\WEB-INF\classes\lua_static.properties allows admins to set the email server address and sender:

#smtp setting
email.smtp.host=10.x.x.x
email.sendar=LiveUupdateAdministrator@symantec.com

I don't see any place in server.xml or in this lua_static conf file where a custom posrt can be set.  If you don't find any instructions for how to change that port in online Tomcat documentation or forums, you can always use netcat or a similar tool to listen on some third machine on port 25 and transmit what it receives to your mailserver on 8025.

Hope this helps!

Mick

With thanks and best regards,
