Service is not the problem

The liveupdate service is not a problem that is working as design.
We will have to check why liveupdate is failing on SEPM

Go to start - run - LUALL -> Enter
It will run manual liveupdate check where it fails and what LUxxxx error code it generates.

Was liveupdate working earlier?
Have you made any proxy changes?
WHat version of SEPM you are running on ? 11.0.xxxx.xxxx

Yes, liveupdate working

Yes, liveupdate working earlier properally.

Proxy changes : NO

SEMP verstion is 11.0.4000.2295

Earlier do not require manually start LiveUpdate service.

from 29th May, liveupdate service requrie manually start from followind path :

right click on My Computer --> Manage --> Services and Applications --> click on services --> Select liveupdate service --> after that click on Start the service

After that server was updating virus defination.

Earlier everything was going well, Startup type of this service is changes to Manual automatically, erlier it was automatic.

Do not need to start manually.

Plz help me..... thanx for quick response.

might be proxy

Do you have  a proxy in here as it looks like proxy issue that is allowing Logged in user account and not system account launching liveupdate,

add http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com to trusted sites as this might allow liveupdate to run in system account.
If still does not work
re-install and re-register liveupdate to SEPM.

Remove Liveupdate from Add/Remove programs.
Re-install it from CD1 \ SEPM \Lusetup.exe
go to command prompt
cd \program files\symantec\symantec endpoint protection manager\binn\lucatalog.exe - update

or follow this document

Hi Samiron I don't think its

Hi Samiron

I don't think its a Velnurablity issue. The problem is due to the Proxy if they have or the Live update settings.

Please turn on the error support to Enhanced mode  and uncheck the Exit Automatically option and then run the LUALL from Start--Run-Type LUALL and hit Entre. It will launch the Liveupdate window and if there is nay issu u will be able to see the Error.
