This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

I have 15 using SEP. How can I get them to liveupdate first through my local SEP server and not through the Symantec Server?

By local SEP server do you

By local SEP server do you mean, the server where you have SEP or SEPM installed.

If all the clients are managed, then they will automatically take definitions from SEPM server and not from Symantec server.

Hello,

I have all clients as "managed clients".

Why then when I press "Liveupdate" in the application is shows:

Initializing...
Connecting to liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com...

Instead of my SEP local server?

It will always go to Liveupdate

Hello Andre,

When  you click on liveupdate button manually , it will always go to symantec liveupdate
by default clients are configured to get from SEPM whenever new defs arrive at SEPM

Earlie in SAV when u click on liveupdate it would go to primary server ,
If you are looking for this , then it wont work in SEP 11, unless you have configured a  internal liveudpate server , if you internal liveupdate server then pressing liveupdate would go to internal liveudpate server.

Hi

In your manager go the liveupdate policy & uncheck the tab "use liveupdate server".. Hence the client will not go to symantec to take defs..

Hope this helps...

Have you checked this Happy to help?

The settings.liveupdate file will not change when you have the SEPM as default for liveupdate.
as you might know there is no schedule for liveupdate when SEPM is configured for defs
when you click on liveupdate , it would read settings.liveupdate to get defs
this file does not have any info about SEPM  so will go to internet
but will have an entry when intrenal liveudpate server configured.
I checked this on my test machine and i have not enabled internal liveupdate server
please correct me if i'm wrong...
