  • 1.  LiveUpdate Tries to Configure SEPM

I am running into a few problems here, the first being the obvious "No Definition" issue.  I have found everything to fix that, but while trying to do so, LiveUpdate initiates SEPM configuration via the Windows Installer.  It then fails saying "LiveUpdate is currently running.  Please wait for LiveUpdate to complete before continuing."

To make matters worse, the SEPM console is failing to update LU, failing after about 10 minutes with Error Code = 4.  It is saying that the \SEPM\data\outbox\agent\command\FBC51086.... .xml is missing, which it is, indeed.

This is my 3rd day working on the issue, with little to no progress.

    Thanks for any help.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I make it a point to never use IE on any sever, but my predecessor had put on the Enhanced Security feature.  Exploring that avenue now.

Don't know how far it would be relevant in your case but I would suggest to try the steps mentioned below.

This error can be caused for different reasons including, but not limited to, the following:

Internet access is being blocked by a proxy server.
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is trying to contact via an internal LiveUpdate server and the URL supplied to LiveUpdate is not correct.
Enhanced Security is enabled in Internet Explorer
A firewall that requires authentication to get to the internet is used.

Note:  To re-register the manager without reinstalling the software, follow the steps below:

Open a command prompt browse to:
    C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin

Type lucatalog -update and press Enter.
Run LiveUpdate to verify that there are no errors.
