Local Login on Windows XP takes a long time when Symantec Management Agent is installed.

Hello everybody,

when a user wants to login on his computer with a local account (no domain login!) it takes over a minute, until the Desktop symbols and taskbar appears.

I found out when I uninstall Symantec Management Agent the login takes about 5 seconds.

On other computers with Symantec Management Agent installed the login is normal with a few seconds.

What could be the problem? Can I change the service order at which time a service is starting?

Thanks, David

Do both machines have the same version of the agent installed?

Same, or different Plug-Ins?

Hello,

yes, both machines have the same agent installed, and the same Plugins.

Installation and Plugin distribution is made by Altiris Software Management Console.

Do you have policies or jobs/Tasks setup to start "At Computer Startup"?  This cans slowdown logging on.  It could also depend on the hardware. Old equipment lag compared to new.
