Location Awareness causing Windows 7 to crash (Blue Screen)
Updated: 27 Jun 2010 | 4 comments
I am in the process of configuring a pilot group of around 40 machines in my organization using Windows 7 Enterprise and SEP RU5. I have Location Awareness turned on on our VPN segment and the changing of locations is causing my Win 7 clients to blue screen.

I suggest you open a case
I suggest you open a case with support ASAP. Be prepared to provide a "Full" dump when opening the case,
as a mini dump will not provide enough data for our engineers to find root cause.
Best,
Thomas
Thank you for the information
Thank you for the information I am in the process of working on this issue with my Remote Product Specialist.
BSOD
In my experiences, almost every time a system Blue Screens, it is due to a driver conflict between the NIC and the Network Threat Protection (Firewall) driver. When your systems change to the VPN location, are you enabling a firewall policy that is disabled when they are internal? If so, you may consider testing it out by keeping the firewall disabled when it changes to the remote location.
Assuming that this is the issue, you may check to see if there is an updated NIC driver available for your system. I know, for instance, that there was an issue between the SEP firewall driver and certain older Broadcom 57xx wireless NIC's that a simple upgrade of the driver would resolve.
Good luck with your issue. I hope this helps.
BSOD more info?
Moflex, can you tell us more about your BSOD?
What was the BSOD Stop Error?
Have you contacted MS Support too?
