  • 1.  Location of the endpoint password on the SEPM

    Hi,
    The issue is as followed,
I have a SEPM RU5, and I have created a package for a system which is not connected to the network and/or to the SEPM.
The package is "Managed" because i wanted to possibility to add/remove policies.
The issue is that i forgot the password to the endpoint and I cant access the client UI, and the client is not connected to the SEPM so that i could change the password..
Is there a place on the SEPM in which the endpoint password is located? because in the SEPM UI you cannot see the password.

    Kind Regards,

    open registry go to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SMC

change the value of  "SmcGuiHasPassword" to 0

    mark solved if it helps.

I wished it would have helped, I have tried it already, and it still has a password.
There is a possibility that i need to wait some time before i can access the GUI? because turning it to 0 didn't help frown

    Thanks,

you should be restarting the smc service after changing the registry.

In the SEPM, click on Admin.
    Click on Install Packages.
    Click on Client Install Settings.
Click on Add Client Install Settings...
In the Client Install Settings window, at the bottom you will see Upgrade settings, Choose the "Remove all previous logs and policies, and reset the communication settings" option and click OK.
Export a new Client Install Package and apply this new custom install setting to that package, then re-deploy to the client
