Hallo,

Dirk

In English...

Hi,

I have a problem with my logging-Files

My settings in my master-server-properties: Keep logs: 20 days, keep vault logs: 30 days

But at my media-servers the bpbrm-logs are deleted after one day.

Is there any other way to chance the conservation period of the bpbrm-Logs????

TIA

Dirk

Just a thought....

Normally the value that is set on the master will also apply to media servers.

Check if the "KEEP_LOGS_DAYS" was changed on the media servers.

On Windows, this is a registry entry (HKLM -> Software -> Veritas -> NetBackup -> CurrentVersion -> Config

On Unix/Linux, check bp.conf

Else, check crontab on the media servers for manual cleanup commands.

Supporting Storage Foundation and VCS on Unix and Windows as well as NetBackup on Unix and Windows.

my media-Server is Windows 2003.

Keep_logs-days = 7

There is no Windows-Schedule-Entry.

Is there any other Parameter?

TIA

I dont think there is

I dont think there is anything else as it is not controleld by vxlogcfg in the same way the nb* processes are.

I am not sure if robust logging changes anything if you have that set.

Is if definately being deleted or is it growing and contains several days of logs?

Do you have any orphaned bpbrm processes that could be affecting it - wait until no jobs are running and then see if there are still bobrm processes running, if so kill them off and see if that helps.

You could also post the export (with a .txt extension) of the netbackup registry key just in case we can spot anything else in there.

robust logging is

robust logging is aktivated

the logs are definately being deleted and every log is for only one day.

It´s not only the bpbrm-log - bpcd and bptm have also only 2-3 logs.

bpbkar for example has logs for 20 days - as it is set in master-server-properties.

Nothing obvious in there that

Nothing obvious in there that i can see

I have done some more digging and it looks very much like this:

If you have enabled robust logging then the vxlogcfg can actually be used to control the maximum size and number of the robust logs - so a setting used for that may be effecting your legacy logs.

I would suggest turning off robust logging to avoid this and the logs should then obey your retetion rules for legacy logs

Hope this helps
