can you try scanning the system in safe mode?

I tried starting it in SAFE MODE with Networking, but it would not allow me to open my Symantec Protection to enable a scan.  Thankfully, I was able to sign in to my Outlook account directly to your messages with the Symantec link.  The scan is presently in progress.  I'll keep you posted.  Thank you very much.  The CONDUIT malware is the worst....thought I had gotten rid of it, but when I attempted to recover to a previous date, it popped up again.

If possible, I would consider performing a clean sweep wiping everything from laptop, but I have  students' theses/dissertations on my computer which I have not  backed up yet bc I haven't graded them. I'm at my wits end!
