Created: 14 Sep 2012 | Updated: 18 Sep 2012 | 10 comments
Hi,
I am looking for a Harware that can check USB sticks on viruses
Our customer, a big school, has the problem that the students and teachers bring data on sticks from home to school, those sticks contain viruses from time to time, is there a way to check these sticks before they plug them into the Pc?
Any help would be appreciated
Best regards Deepblu3

HI,
I think that type hardware are not available.
If you have this type problem you can updated your antivirus time to time.
Which antivirus are you using currently ?
You can disable autorun.

I am agree with Brian81. Symantec is best solution for virus and spyware but it not scan USB drive autmatically when plugged in.
For the USB related issue you can try the tool
USB Disk Security .
I am also using this tool and Symantec at my Laptop. It detect on the support virus from USB device and clean it. Symantec help to remove the other viruses/spyware. No required to disable autorun function.

The File System Auto-Protect scan is the only type which would automatically scan a USB drive connected to the system. This type of scan, by default, would only run when a file is accessed or modified (scans the files when they are written, opened, moved, copied, or run).
This means that if any infections/threats present on the USB drive attempt to access or modify any of the content on the system it would be detected. The detection mechanism within File System Auto-Protect ensures safety from threats present on the USB drives.
Symantec Antivirus does not currently run an automatic System Scan on the contents of flash drives when they are first plugged in. A manual scan on the contents of a flash drive can be initiated by right-clicking on the drive in My Computer and choosing Scan for Viruses.
