This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi, does Symantec have a counterpart for the program "Noob Killer by Leerz".
I've seen administrators and technicians use it to restore changes that viruses has made to the desktop like the folders being hidden, cannot run msconfig, among other things.

Look for the Microsoft

Look for the Microsoft utility or unhooexec.inf as suggested by Vikram.
U can use SEP Tool to analyse the issue.

I just thought it would be a great idea for Symantec to develop their own tool. This would be useful for installing on a new machine. At least just check if the necessary registry values and files are in proper order. Given the experience of having to wait for an installation to finish only to see it rollback like some malwares do.

Maybe the support tool will do for now. :D

Every so often I run across a virus that won't let me execute anything on the PC. No task manager and certainly no AV / Malware removal tools. And if I find the malicious files and try to remove them, I always get "access denied" Usually safe mode does the trick but this is almost impossible when I'm doing this remotely and there is no local IT support. I found a cleanup tool that consists of the cleanup.bat and cleanup.reg. I'm just curious on what reg keys the malware hijacks to cause this and if i can manually remove. I suppose all malware works in different ways but it has to be hijacking most of the same keys?

Just follow the links posted

Just follow the links posted above and Google the software I mentioned. That's among the tools worth using.
