After migration RU7

Hi

After migration to RU7 if error in user profile while booting error shows NLM_hook type and lotus not is not running, solution is to delete only .dll extension from NSF_HOOKS=NLNVP.DLL , which resides in user profile /local setting/ application data/ lotus /notes/data inside nots.ini file . to find is just type .dll and it will prompt to NSF_HOOKS=NLNVP.DLL location. Just delete .dll and then try to log in lotus notes

I am sure lutus note will be running and able to logging in succesfully. Please do not reinstall Louts notes to solve this problem. Although if you dont find NSF_HOOKS=NLNVP.DLL inside notes.ini file then little bit more configuration tast just to deleta Data folder from usr profile /local setting/ application data/ lotus /notes/data.  Please do not forget to save names.nsf file which has stored mail address to restore later after deleting the Data folder.

I had the same problem here

I had the same problem here on 1 test workstation. Lotus Notes and crashes creating a Notes Crash dump file. No Windows event logs are being created. A Lotus Notes NSD Log is created but I have not gone through the with a fine toothed comb yet. There was nothing obvious pointing to the cause at a quick glance. I am yet to go through the Notes DMP file but will do later this week.

I tried repairing Lotus Notes, Uninstalled and reinstalled both products still could not launch Lotus Notes without error message even with out any version of SEP installed. After reinstalling SEP RU6 MP1 problem was still present on the workstation.

So I put it down to the fact that there had been some sort of corruption of the Lotus Notes cofiguration files in the user profile which is where we store the user config for Lotus Notes. In the end I had to delete\remane the Lotus Notes configuration folder on the local workstation to fix lotus notes. For us the path is: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Lotus\Notes\Data I renamed the Data folder logged off Windows and back on lauched Notes and was all ok.

I have not done any further testing with RU7. I may have some spare time later this week to do further testing but by the look of it SEP 11 RU7 and Lotus Notes are not going to get along.

Lotus Notes Version Release 8.5.1 FP4

SEP Client Version 11 RU7 For us, we have the Lotus Notes plug in installed but not enabled.

OS Version WinXP SP3

hi

Symantec is blocking that application.

I had added centralized exception policy for lotus notes and its working with some of the machines and not working with a part of my clients.

Don't forget to mark your threat as "SOLVED' with the answer that helped you!!!!!!!

Is AV blocking it? PTP?

Is AV blocking it? PTP? IPS?

Which executable? nlnotes.exe? notes2.exe?

You should open a case immediately and work with Symantec to get it resolved.

Got this from a

Got this from a user:

Removal of the Notes email plugin alone did not resolve the issue. Once removed, Notes crash-at-launch continued until I commented out the line "NSF_HOOKS=NLNVP.DLL" in my Lotus Notes' notes.ini file. Once the setting was commented, Notes launched and continues to operate normally.

Not a pretty fix is it. Don't

Not a pretty fix is it. Don't like the idea of scanning 6000+ workstations and user profiles for notes.ini and removing one line in the notes.ini. Does anyone know if this problem is occuring in SEP12.1 or if RU7 MP1 will provide have a fix?

Have clients running 8.5.1

Have clients running 8.5.1 FP3 running single user mode Notes installs on XP. The ini file does not have the .dll extension.  Clients on 8.5.2 FP2 installed muti-user mode on Win7 have the .dll on the end.

Running SEP 11.0.6300.803 and have not noticed significant crash issues in either environment on Notes startup.

I do still get the RTVSCN 'holding memory' error message mentioned on other threads from time to time on shutdown, and on shutdown sometimes the notes2.exe process does not quit, so have to kill it and nsd.exe to get notes to restart.

Also curious here as to what percentage of clients are affected by this problem and what OS is being used.
