Are there any exception needed for Liveupdate Administrator other than this:

    http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com:80/
    http://liveupdate.symantec.com:80/
    ftp://update.symantec.com:21/opt/content/onramp

We still cannot update sucessfully even after defining this 3 on the firewall. Is this 3 links still the links when recieving the downloads?  It try to ping one of them and I recieved a link from their third party server at akamai domain. please help me to have all the exceptions we need INBOUND and OUTBOUND.

    Thanks,

Make sure that the firewall allows the LiveUpdate executable to connect to the Internet through the correct ports and that the firewall allows connections to the correct domains. Read your firewall's documentation or contact the manufacturer to find out how to confirm these settings.

    • LiveUpdate connects over TCP ports 80 (HTTP), 21 (FTP) and 443 (HTTPS).
    • The file that connects to the Internet is LuComServer_*_*.exe in LiveUpdate 2.5 and later and Lucomserver.exe in LiveUpdate 2.0 and earlier.
    • The default folder for this file is C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate.
    • LiveUpdate connects via HTTP to the domains liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com, liveupdate.symantec.com, and akamai.net.
    • If a connection fails, LiveUpdate tries to connect to one of the other listed domains. The listed domains may change because of server maintenance.
    • If LiveUpdate cannot make an HTTP connection, LiveUpdate connects via FTP to update.symantec.com/opt/content/onramp

How to determine whether your firewall is blocking LiveUpdate

yes those are the one for the content download. if you type the URL in browser it will redirect to http://www.symantec.com/security_response/.

    • LiveUpdate connects via HTTP to the domains liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.comliveupdate.symantec.com, and akamai.net.

Only those are needed. Liveupdates are hosted on Akami, URL will resolve to the IP automatically and there is no Static IP for it.

Check if its been blocked by Firewall.

    Hello,

Installing LiveUpdate Administrator (LUA) and Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) on the same physical computer is not supported, nor recommended. This includes installing them to different virtual machines on the same physical computer.

    Check this Article:

Secondly, I would also request you to check these Articles:

Thanks for this, we forgot to exclude akamai.net on our firewall.I hope that was the reason for this and I'll post again once tested.

    thanks again,
