  • 1.  LUA PostgreSQL keeps crashing - Therefore LUA crashes...

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( PostgreSQL ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: FATAL: could not write to file "pg_xlog/xlogtemp.5372": No space left on device

All was working well, until the LUA was updated to the latest version. Now, the SQL database on this LUA server alone will work for a couple of days, then begin to crash like this.  Its not a matter of physical disk space, as there is PLENTY free. Ive checked the permissions on everything and all seems well - above all nothing has changed.

Is this a known issue that can be remedied?
    Thanks

What version of Postgresql are you using?

Im not sure of what version of PostgreSQL is running.
It is the version that is installed by default for the Liveupdate Admin. Initially we were using MR2 for this server - all other servers which run the MR2 (LUA 2.1 I believe) are all running without incident. It was when MR4 (+Java 1.6) and LUA 2.2 were installed that I began to have these issues.

I have since removed LUA, installed the MR2 version and it worked for a couple of days then crashed again. The MR4 version was then REinstalled, and I am back to where I began.  Im close to saying to hell with having a LUA at this site and just use the GUP to distribute updates here.

    This is frustrating.
    Thanks

I had issues with LUA 2.2 . If I did any work in the LUA console then PostgreSQL service would crash & I'd have to restart.

I still haven't managed to find any reason why & after logging a call with support in Feb , they came back to me yesterday after 2 months of trying to find the fault advising that a configuration of LUA & SEPM on the same server isn't supported lol !!!!

So , if anyone does find a fix for this I'd be happy to hear from you

Well, SEPM is NOT installed on this server that is experiencing the issues. This appears to be an isolated issue unique to this server alone. Im wondering if there is not some OTHER application that could be causing the issue here. I think my next step will be to rip the LUA from this server and install it elsewhere to ensure my clients continue to get their required updates.
A real PITA if you ask me, but the solution seems to be nonexistant...
    *Sigh*

    Hi can you post some LUA logs here? What is the exact version of LUA? can you get the postgresql info by going to psql, type SELECT version();

Also another note, just double check system requirements first.. :)

    Hey,

i have still the same Problem.
    LUA Version is 2.2.1.13.
postgresql version is default which is installed by lua
All the whole time there was no Problem, but for a couple weeks i got the same error massage and many more in eventviewer.
LUA crashes permanently, so i have to check it daily for working.

On the server SEPM is also installed

anybody have an idea how to repair the postgresql database ?

This is wonderful! I have had the LUA servers at my subordinate sites take a fall one by one, and it all seems to point to the PostgreSQL server. Either it states that its 'out of space' or the 'Password is bunk' or whatever else it decides. Looks like its GUP for a majority of my sites until this can be cleared up.

Again, please check on the system requirements. Can you post exact error messages?
