Mac backup on windows backup exec
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 6 comments
Hi We current have back exec 10.1 installed on a windows server 2003 and we use this to back up a 10.4.8 mac os X server using the agent. We recently upgraded the backup exec to 10.1 and we now cant back the mac up. We know the root password is correct, we have changed and check it serveral times and under network login accounts if we run the test, it tests with out any errors. However we run the backup its says that either the password is incorrect or the account dosnt have the correct permissions, as none of these have been changed, can you tell us what we are doing incorrectly.

Hello,
Account with which you are trying to backup the MaC machine possess which rights?
Regards,
it contains the same rights as it did before backup, it has the root password
What is the exact error message that you get in the job log?
e000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly.
For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-65065
can I clarify then when you test the accounts password it works fine.
Did you refer to the following technote:

thanks. We have resolved the problem, the mac account needs to be setup when the service account is logged on and then the unrestricted tick is unticked and finally the machine will back up.
