  • 1.  Mac OS X Clients disconnect overnight

We've just started piloting a dual-boot Mac OS X/Windows XP environment, and so this is our first foray into using Altiris with the Mac operating system.

But I've noticed the last couple days (it's only just been deployed) that all the machines show as offline every morning when I come in; however, if I use ARD, all machines are online and accessible.

We've used the default settings for the client, and only changed the server the client is pointing to and turning off discover server by multicast.

Any ideas why they don't show up as online?

    Thanks,

    Jessica

    Hi Jessica,

Currently we use Altiris for our PC infrastructure and am now evaulating whether to use it for our emerging Mac's. The main concern of using Altiris are the high client license costs. Therefore I'm investigating Apple Remote Desktop

So I was wondering as you seemed to have used both Altiris and ARD whether you could share your experience and general thoughts about the two products within a Mac environment?

    Thanks!!
