I am using Altiris DS 7.1 to reimage about 700+ machines in various locations. I have several task in my job including Apply System Configuration. That joins the machine to the domain and keeps the existing name. Here is my issue. It keeps the MININT name that it gets while in automation. It does not happen every time but 8 or 9 times out of 10. I have opened up a case with Altiris but they say they have never seen this before. While the machines are imaging they change their name in the console as well which makes it hard to tell what computer is which. I was told that this happens on purpose due to a delete update. I never noticed it before but if this is on purpose that is not good design. So has anyone had this happen before or notice that the machine changes name in the console.
