Hi, I have a problem that apparently is related to Symantec (I use symantec endpoint use Version 10.5.2).

I have a user who repeatedly get invalid or delay delivery mails.

    The message is as follows:

451 4.4.1 [internal] connection was not attempted: domain is marked down (too many connection failures)

421 4.4.0 [internal] failed to connect: no mail servers for this domain could be reached at this time

    What might be happening?

    Thanks!

There is no 10.5.2 version of SEP. Do you have a screenshot of the product that you can provide?

No worries. I moved this post to the SMG forum for best visibility.

    Thanks.

Running Symantec Messaging Gateway version 10.0.2, I noticed we have a single sender of messages in our Delivery Queue (under STATUS, MESSAGE QUEUES).  These messages are to external addresses (appear bogus) from MAILER-DAEMON.  Route is Default-Non-Local-Route, last error says "421 4.4.0 [internal] Failed to connect: no mail servers for this domain could be reached at this time".

Can someone explain why ONLY these couple messages would be in our Delivery queue?  how are they getting in our queue?

    Please advise, thank you!

    Ask google ...

    https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH93089.html

Usually we can see this error when the recipient domain has an a but no mx record. By this, the domain is registered and SMG just waits till "Sent message time-out".

    Hi,

Im getting the same error on 2 or 3 diffenent domains. we're running version 10.5.4-4.

when we try and mail these address we get

    nda.ie

    ogp.gov.ie

421 4.4.0 [internal] failed to connect: no mail servers for this domain could be reached at this time

Does any one have a fix for this issue? or anything i can try out

    Hi,

Just tested bith, dismac.com.bo and ogp.gov.ie

ogp.gov.ie - looks like they have a little problem with their domain registration, but did not fully check everything.

dismac.com.bo - looks ok, but a tracert to their server is quite slow.

To be shure whats going on in your certain situation / connection to the internet use "tcpdump host IP -w log.pcap", replacing IP with the MX record of the destination.

If you're not familiar where and how to use tcpdump and later on read and understand a pcap please open a case and get advised by symantec.
