    I have an issues because my client clicked on reset password and AT&T blocks port 25. what I would like to do is simply use the SMTP server from email hosting provider. I see where to change the server name and the port. However, this server requires authentication so I need to pass the user name and password along.

    What the format to do this in the MailConfig.Properties file.

    the current format is as follows:

    adminMailReciptants=user@domain.com
    mailSender=
    mailSrvPort=25
    mailPwd= there is data here
    mailAdmin=
    sslEnable=false
    mailServer=local server name

    thanks,

    Mace

    This is a format that your SMTP server would accept.

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

    I would be glad to answer your query.

    You can not edit this file manually, it will be updated if made changes in the SEPM console only.

    This can be used only for read only pupose.

    In this case you should use resetpass.bat file to recover the password if email password recovery is not working.

    Thank you everyone for your responses. I am glad to see how quickly I can get help and good advice in this forum.

    Chetan,

    Yes I would like to reset the admin the password. The owner of the company decide he wanted to login and clicked reset password without asking me. However, besides resetting the password I would like to have Endpoint to have ability to send email and reports to me. Since AT&T blocks port 25 outgoing I need to use my hosts SMTP server. This would require using port 587 with authentication. If I don’t make this change it will never be able to send email.

    If I can make this change in the console that I am locked out of that once I have access, I can make the change there. What lead me to this question is I read this https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-reset-symantec-endpoint-protection-manager-console-password-sep-121

    I do not have the resetpass script on my server and I think the reason is “Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 1 Maintenance Patch 1 (RU1 MP1) or greater does not use resetpass.bat and it has been removed from the Tools directory.”

    If I can obtain the script I would use it.

    Thanks a lot for your help,

    Resetpass.bat file is removed due to security reason however support can try to make it available to recover from this situation. Log a web case and request for resetpass.bat file.

    If possible ping me the case number & Ican try to make it available at earliest.

    Check attached docs to see what changes you can make there.

    Chetan,

    Thank you verry much for your help. I was able to get the resetpass.bat file from a support ticket I opened.

    I found the server properties (thank you for the screen shot) and was able to change SMTP server setting so it can send email.

    Thanks,
