We are running SEP on Dual Processor servers with 8 Gb RAM

Sometimes the console performance reduces drasticaly.

Most of our servers have an uptime of approx 2 months.

How frequently do people usually restart their SEPM servers?

Is there any suggested plan for maintaining/optimizing SEPM server & database performance?

(My ver is SEP 11 MR2 MP2)

i was curious myself what the shutdown procedure is for sepm?

i don't run shutdown's on my sql servers without stopping the service manually and any dependent apps.

how do you ensure a safe shutdown so that any processes such as liveupdate or database tasks are not interrupted?

seems like bad mojo to no have a shutdown procedure that waits for all jobs to finish

Come on I am sure you guys dont just install the SEPM server and forget about it.

Other than taking a backup does SEPM/SQL require any care and feeding?

MR99 will fix it all.

I have SEPM running on, and don't bash- it's all I had availabel at the time...

Dual P3 800's  with 1 Gig of RAM.  Server 2003 Standard, SP2.

I sometimes find that the performance, especially when opening or reporting from SEPM console is not at it's most perfroming capabilities...  But it is doing what it is supposed to do.

I do "need" to restart this machine in occasion, and thats usually about once a month.

Haven't had any problems with a simple shutdown, without requiring shutting off SQL and the lot...
