Just wondering if there is going to be a MP or MR release for SEP soon. From reading this forum I understood that it was supposed to happen by now.

Any Symantec people have any idea?

Thanks

Per Symantec's Q&A webcast that was held today, they are anticipating an MR1 release by month's end.

Is there a link to this? Or do you need to be a "Triple Titianium" member with a secret handshake to access?:smileywink:

Haha, no special account needed. I think it will be posted to http://www.symantec.com/business/solutions/library/index.jsp under Recent Webcasts eventually. Maybe a day or so.

the webcast is there under On-Demand Webcasts
or this link https://www111.livemeeting.com/cc/symantec_live/view?id=E-EU-121807
But I then get the error
"The requested recording could not be viewed. The recording ID or password may be incorrect."

Very Nice Paul...Thank you very much for replying.

Just one quick question, has it fixed the issue of 'rolling back installation and the wizard was interupted' issue as described here

It will be nice to give a headsup of what's fixed so we know what's not:smileytongue:

Yes the above statement is holding true.  MR1 has been posted to the Platinum support site so if you have access to that you can download it now.  It should be on file connect shortly.  As for a heads up on what is fixed see the folowing link.

Anybody mind to share the update and upload it to a certain server (rapidshare) maybe? I dont have any access to the 'platinum' member lounge.

Please do not post MR1 to rapidshare or any similar site, especially since no license file is required to use it. Please check fileconnect to see if the download is available, basic and gold customers on this forum have already managed to download it - if it isnt on fileconnect it will be soon and you can always call support and get it from them.. Thanks

I have login to Fileconnect, and i only found Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.1000_AllWin_EN_CD1.zip and cd2.zip there (posted date of these files is 27th Dec).  Are these files the maintenance release? I thought we should download the updates only.  Do i have to download all the full cd and install it on the servers and computers again?

How did you get this? When I go to downloads for SEP there are no updates available. My company has purchased  maintainance support for all of our Symantec products so I don't understand why this is only available to a select few that have "gold" or "platinum" accounts.

I find this rather frustrating to say the least as I am trying to test this for our Company so we can get this rolled out (if I had to hazard a guess, I would say we are in the 10000+ license count range).

Please let the rest of us know how to obtain this patch.

Thank you.

the new download should be available to you on FileConnect (https://fileconnect.symantec.com) simply enter your license number into the website and it will take you to the downloads.  If its not yet listed there then it looks like it hasn't filtered through to everyone yet.  If you don't see it on fileconnect, please call support who can provide with a download

Thanks for the quick response Paul. I do see that the file date for it is 12-27-2007 so I have downloaded it. I guess it would be helpfull if they could show the full build number (in this case 11.0.1000.1112 for SEP) in the future as it looked to me like it was the same version (of course if I would have paid attention to the date I wouldn't have needed to add to this thread).

It still would be nice to get just the MR release though. What would I need to do to get access to that?

Thanks

Thanks for your prompt help Paul.

I did have a question about obtaining MR-1. I Downloaded my SEP CD1 & 2 files from FileConnect back in Nov '07 and installed them. I have been having significant problems with shared file access and therefore I am very interested in installing MR-1 as the release notes indicate these issues are resolved. When I check my current version from the program files installed in Nov '07 it indicates ver. 11.0.1000.1375. When I go to FileConnect, I do see what appears to be a complete program install CD1 & 2 dated Dec 27/07 but no indication as to whether this is the actual maintenance release - 1 or a complete install and is this file more up to date than 11.0.1000.1375?

Do I do a complete repeat install of CD1 & 2 to get MR-1? Will this remove any settings I have made?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Will the MR1 be available through LiveUpdate? If so, then when?

11.0.1000.1375 is MR1
11.0.2000.xxxx will be the version for MR2 when it comes out.

It's info from Symantec training session that one of my coleagues attended:

MR2 has been suggested as the new baseline as to what people should be installing from now on when talking about SEP 11, obviously once it is on full release which is not officially until the 21st of March.

Public beta release should be available at the end of this week or at the end of next week but there were no promises.

MR2 has been marked as something that will involve major improvements for Small Business Server.

It has been strongly stressed that the av and antispyware component should be rolled out first and then after learning a lot more or when people and/or network are ready only then configure as needed and test as you go along on select or test machine before rolling out completely to the whole network.

The new default policy for firewall has been softened so can be deployed if need be out of the box, as in without creating your own policies.

New feature during the install with 2 options, simple and advanced.

Simple should be used for under 100 users and advanced you can specify obviously how many.

Then less options than before to configure so has become more seamless.

Now during install it captures the administrators account email address by default for reporting which obviously can be changed later on.

Verifies IIS config as part of the wizard.

Minimum of 1GB RAM unlike the necessity for 2GB in previous releases.

Exclusions of Active directory domain controllers and SEPM embedded DB &t-log(s) now included by default.

Release MR2 will support Windows Server 2008 and Server Core

The Activescan when new defs arrive is now unchecked out of the box with MR2.

MR2 is promised to be a lot lighter.

The console is promised to have better performance and the availability of latest virus defs available and what the latest defs are from Symantec and on the console on the main status page.

It sounds like a lot of work has been done.  I am still in test mode here with MR1, so where can I sign up to beta test MR2??  I really want to roll this product out one day, and the improvements of MR2 sound like we may have finally hit the sweet spot where it is safe to do so!  :smileytongue:
