This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am using Endpoint Protection 11.05. Was wondering if it is possible to mangage both 11.05 and 11.04? I have both packages setup for distribution, whoever it installs 11.05 even though I chose to push 11.04. I have tested this by installing as an unmanaged with the same install files.

Yes a 11.0.5 SEPM can manage

Yes a 11.0.5 SEPM can manage older clients.  Granted if there is some new fangled feature in one version that an older version doesnt have, well you are SOL..  Something like the new GUP features in RU5.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

11.04

Thank  you. I must have exported the wrong package. I deleted the old and installed the new package. I am now doing both 11.05 and 11.04.

SEPM can manage all versions

SEPM can manage all versions of SEP. Just make sure SEPM version should be higher so that you dont get any errorneous logs.
So SEPM MR5 can manage MR1 Clients as well without any problems.

If both the packages are assigned the latest version will install.

Just in MR5 there has been few changes with GUP so if you are planning to make Advanced GUP policy that will fail on MR4 or earlier clients as they wont understand the new GUP system.

Compatibility

The only issue that can arise is if you want to implement any new feature of RU5. In this case there can be compatibility issue.
