Manage client are those which manage by sepm server or unmanage are those which go through symantec live update directly. Manage client get the policy from sep server and no policy apply on unmanage clients

    Edit

You can configure client as manage and applying the policy from sepm and configure the password.

So no user can interfare to client configuration

All are correct,  In simple terms

SEPM: Symantec endpoint protection manager is a console  from which you can install clients , update policy, update virus definition. All Managed clients report to this SEPM, visible inside the console

Managed client: Any computer which reports to SEPM is managed client.. This client can be managed from SEPM like updates, policy, reports,

Unamanged:  Any computer which DOES not reports to SEPM is unmanaged client.. you cannot control it from SEPM,

    Hi David,

You will not be able to see Unmanage client in your symantec console. Only manage client will apear in Symantec console.

If you want to convert unmanage client to manage then replace the sylink file of all unmanaged system. then your all unmanaged client will reflect in Symantec console.

If they're connected and showing up in your SEPM then they're managed.

If you have unmanaged clients, you just need to replace the sylink file with one from the SEPM.
