  • 1.  Managed Linux SEP Client showing Status "DISABLED" and Auto-Protect as "Malfunctioning" on SEPM 12.1.5

    Posted Jan 21, 2015 06:20 AM

    Hi,

We have deployed the SEPFL under the "/opt/Symantec/symantec_antivirus" directory.

On SEPM 12.1.5, the properties page of the client shows the Free Disk Space under the 'Clients' tab.

For example, if the Free Disk Space shows 1GB, is it referring to "/opt/Symantec/symantec_antivirus" or to some other location on the Linux system?

    Reason to ask this question:-

The Computer Status Logs shows Status around 80 Linux systems in DISABLED state, and shows Auto-Protect component on nearly 50 Linux systems as Component is Malfunctioning. Common systems are just 15.

I was wondering whether low disk space could be a reason for these symptoms.

    1. What is the recommended Free Disk Space for a Linux system that is installed with SEPFL and has updated at least once?
    2. Any idea what else to check, under such circumstances other than Free Disk Space assuming that they are successfully communicating with the SEPM?

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

The requirements show as needing 5GB available:

My understanding is it would show total amount of free disk space, not just in one particular directory.

    Thanks Brian!

    1. As I understand, the 5GB requirement is for installing SEPFL on a system afresh.

However, once installed, and updated with the latest virus definitions, the size of directory, wher SEPFL is installed grows up to 4 or 5GB.

Having said that, does an SEPFL client still need 5GB of free disk space as a requirement only to download and install new updates daily?

    2. If it shows the total amount of free disk space, then the SEPM console will not be as useful as it actually could be.

Had it been showing the free disk space for the directory, where SEPFL is installed on the system, the SEPM GUI and the Computer Status Logs would have become indeed handy during troubleshooting, as the case is now, where systems are shown DISABLED and/or Malfunctioning.

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

    Hi,

Is there anything else that we can look into to troubleshoot this issue?

    Thanks,
    Jimmy
