  • 1.  Managed software delivery task not taking remediation steps.

I have created a MSD policy to upgrade / install citrix 11.2 on a group of PCs.

When I first created this policy, i made sure to disable remediation as i just wanted it run to get a base idea of what my compliance levels were.

Now that I have that info, I would like it to actually do the upgrade / install, but after 3 days of it sitting there with the new remediation settings changed to "on next maint. window" it hasn't updated a single PC.

the policy is enabled, and setup correctly, (i mean it WAS able to get the info needed for the compliance report so i know the policy works)

    any ideas?

Could this have anything to do with KB 49387 which has a cause of:  The cause is unknown, though it appears the client keeps stale data and the updates are not making it down.

I am thinking maybe the client is keeping stale policy information, so it thinks the policy is only to check for compliance?

    Thanks!

What version are you running?  If you run SIM on your SMP, are any updates available?

    I'd suggest this workaround:
Create a new Managed Software Delivery for a test computer, configure it identically to your current policy, set to Remediate immediately and Override maintenance windows, confirm that your test computer is in the Target, and then Enable and save the policy.  Then I'd force an update of the test client's agent and see how things go.

its up to date aside from the recent 4 that i posted about a while ago (where I couldn't find the KB articles talking about what they actually updated).

I will give your suggestion a try and post back!

Will probably update finally first though...  and see if the policy works after the update, then make a new one.

In 6.x if your clients ran a software delivery task once, they are not going to run it again.  Unless of course you have it set to a repeating schedule.

With that said, it might work the same in 7.x.  I'm not sure.  If that is the case, then you have to make another managed policy to come around and do the upgrade/install.
