Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

Is there any way to convert a base of computers with SEP Small Business Edition v 12.1.2015.2015 from managed to unmanaged clients?

The SEPM these were pointed to died and we have no way to implement Method 2 from HOWTO36107 to make changes on the server side.

That leaves only method 1, uninstall/reinstall using unmanaged installer, which can do, but am trying to avoid.

Is there any other way?

You used to be able to do it by setting clients to Client mode but that didn't always work. Symantec recommends just doing a reinstall.

I'm guessing that "setting clients to Client mode" was a server side thing. I see no way to configure the SEP client side.

Correct, needs to be set on the SEPM side.

The other thing you could try doing is dropping a generic sylink.xml file on the client. It may or may not work but worth a shot. I've attached it for you. Normally just comes on the download ISO for the install.
