  • 1.  mangement server requires what Java/.NET?

    Posted Nov 29, 2011 02:38 PM

    Good afternoon, all!

I need to find some space on the root drive of my management /update server.  There a couple versions of Java installed, and a couple versions of .NET.

Question:  what versions of either Java or .NET are required for SEP Manager and Live Update to operate?  Or, to put it another way, can I jettison one or  both of these without lobotomizing my SEP operations?

    Thanks in advance!

SEPM remote console is not compatible with some versions of Java 1.6. Sun Microsystems has released Java 1.6 update 4, 5, 6 and 7 which resolves the compatibility problems faced earlier, wherein the automatic update of the Java Virtual Machine from version 1.5 to version 1.6 caused the remote SEPM consoles to give Login Errors. Ensure that your remote SEPM console is at a minimum version of 11.0.1000 (MR1).

Note: Version 1.6.10 and 1.6.11 are again not compatible with the remote SEPM java console, please do not upgrade to Java 6 beyond update 7:

Home, Monitors, and Reports pages are blank in the remote console after upgrading to Java 1.6 Update 10:

    JRE1.5 is the suitable one

    Hi Gregg,

The SEPM console uses Java, but comes with its own built-in, pre-tuned version.  It won't be using .NET or any other installations of Java that are on the server.  (There are exceptions- if you are using remote console, etc etc etc)

How low on space is the SEPM-?  Also: is the SEPM using a databse that is installed on the same server or on a remote server?

Final question: which exact version of SEPM are you using?

Just a reminder: LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x and SEPM should never be on the same server.
