Hi people,
Can anyone please let me know where is the log file of the failed installation of SEP client 12.1.2 ?
Because when I'm trying to manually upgrade SEP 11.0.6 to 12.1.2 32 bit client on my Windows Server 2003, it rolled back always.
Thanks
Check SEP_INST.log on %temp% folder.
%temp% folder, Sep_inst.log would be flog name.
check for return value 3 in that log, above or below that entry there would reason for roll back.
whats the OS?
John,
It's in %temp%
Post the log here if you need assistance.
Brian
Pete, it is Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2 32 bit.
Strangely, there is nothing left in the %TEMP% ?
I wonder if this is caused by the very limited disk space in C: drive being lesser than 500 MB ?
Definitely. I would suggest having at least 2GB free, possibly more.
500 MB is less space for SEP to install, make some additional free space as posted by Brian and try installing again.
are you manually installing or pushing package to the target client?
Well I did manual install on this particular production server.
Somehow it is now still running on 11.0.6
Did you make some space ?
are you trying to install a silent package or interactive one?
since 12.1 is side by side install you should be having few logs as mentioned in this document
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH164067
restart the machine .
did the install go smooth?
Do you need more help ? If not please update thread.
Do you have the SEP_INST.log file to post?
Yes, it seems that the issues is on the disk space itself.
In one occasion, the SEP definition folder gets way too big ~1 GB with 3-4 definitions folders.
11.x keeps 3 defs by default, 12.1 only keeps one.
You can remove the 11.x client and install 12.1
Cool, thanks for the clarification Brian. So in this case I can safely delete the other two older SEP client definition folders.
You can but it will always keep 3 defs by default so your best bet is to just get it to 12.1
You are absolutely right Brian, this server was still using SEP 11.0.6.
Many thanks for the explanation :-)
