Manual Removal of Symantec 10.x - Issues

Created: 01 Jan 2012 • Updated: 04 Jan 2012 | 6 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

I just followed the manual removal instructions for Symantec Antivirus 10.x (Enterprise) located at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH101706&locale=en_US.

It worked great. However every time I reboot, my network does not work and I have to disable and re-enable my network connection. My NIC is a TRENDnet, TEG-PCITXR  32-bit 10/100/1000Mbps PCI ADAPTER. I have reinstall it's drivers. My system is WinXP Pro. I had no other Symantec products on my system that I was aware of other then the Antivirus.

I am not sure if this is in the right forum. Please move if it is not.

Thanks

are there any driver updates ,if yes you need to update the driver.

Are there any events in the event viewer related to NIC .

During manual removal you might have deleted any reg entry or sys file which was related to nic driver.

Best way would be to un-install driver and then when you reboot the drivers will get re-installed automatically

I did update the NIC driver by going into device manager, it found drivers and reinstalled them. However I still have to manually disable and re-enable for it to work. I will try totally uninstalling it from device manager and let it redetect it on reboot and see what happens.

Any other suggestions?

I think Amulya's suggestion should work

One of two things got it fixed. I purchased and install a new version of Norton Antivirus 2012 and I also removed the NIC from device manager and rebooted to let it reinstall the latest drivers that I have downloaded. It works now, thanks for the help.
