  • 1.  Manual Scans stop immediately

Hoping someone can help me with this problem.  Just upgraded from SAV 10.1 to SEP 12.1.  I'm trying to do a network scan to one of my shares, so I right-click on it and choose Scan for Viruses.  It opens the window and starts, then stops right away.  Going in to the event viewer, I get an event logged:

    Event ID 129

    source; Symantec AntiVirus

Reputation check timed out during unproven file evaluation, likely due to network delays.

I'm on a corporate Cisco network with a 20gb backbone to the core router and to the server with the file share on it, so I know it's not the network.  When I had to the old version of 10.1 on this client, I was able to scan anything I wanted, and it actually worked fairly well, finding a few viruses.  Now I made the mistake of upgrading to 12.1 and it no longer works.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

Ok, so it appears to only work if I map a drive directly to the network folder that I want to scan.  Is this the solution?  Only way it will work?  Kind of a pain in the butt to have to map a drive to scan network folders.  I know that the old 10.1 client worked from UNC path and didn't require a mapped drive.

    Thanks
