This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have a custom Software Update Agent Configuration Policy for just a few of my servers & I want to make it so that patches are NOT applied on a schedule but rather manually. I want to be able to login to the server and see the patches are ready to be applied but I have to click 'Start software update cycle' for them to install.  Was wondering if any of you have ever set the Software Update Agent Configuration Policy schedule to 'every 0 days' & if this would accomplish what I want?

Do This...

Create a custom Software Update Agent configuration policy and apply it to just those servers.  Then, create a schedule to install updates "Once" on 1/1/2050.  Or, choose whatever date you would like - it just has to be some time in the future.  This will give your servers a "valid" config policy and allow you to install the updates manually by using the 'Start software update cycle' link...
