    Hey all,

I'm having s strange issue with my primary NS.  In the Altiris log viewer I'm getting piles and piles of this error:

"Failed to process package codebase.  ID: {random GUID number} Src:  \\Directory location Msg: Could not find part of the path '\\Directory UNC Path'.

Does this indicate that I have corrupt files somewhere?  If so, what do I do about it?

I need to figure this one out as it appears that the errors are causing the CPU usage of the NS to spike badly, and since the NS is running on a VM, it's gobbling up CPU and causing slowdowns elsewhere.  If it continues I will have to severly restrict the CPU availability to this VM to prevent impact elsewhere in our environment, thus making the Altiris server unable to function at full capacity.

    Help!

I've seen this on my old Altiris 6 installation and it was because of expired packages. However, it did not affect my CPU and memory usage.

I'd search Google and the Symantec site for how-to's regarding clearing the NS of expired packages. You should be able to find some SQL queries on how to tell what the GUID is referring to within Altiris.

I searched around and found this on the Symantec site:

Resynchronize Package Servers with Invalid or Stale Codebases

Following step #2 "Manual Synchronization" seems to have done the trick.

I wish I knew what caused the problem in the first place, but I'm just glad to have it fixed.
