Hi

I am very curious your opinion and experience with NetBackup Master Server on Virtual Machine. Let us assume that NetBackup environment is heavly loaded, thousands of jobs a day, ten media servers, over twenty tape drives and so on. The master would only do a master things (job management, EMM, volmgr, ...).

How about performance of a Master as VM? Would it be a problem with resource allocation and/or job management?

Thx for any opinion.

Hi,   It sound like your

Hi,

It sound like your master is already in production on a physical. If you can configure it with the same (or more) resources available then it should be OK. This does however require a in depth understanding of the VMware configuration.

Also, on Enterprise Vault we've seen that a VM does not perform as well as a physical server. A VM typically only gives 80% of the performance. Thats just some input from a EV side......

ITs easy ;)
