Is there a way in IM Manager to measure the number of IMs that a user sends per day.  We have some users spending way too much time on IM (non work related), and I need to inform management of how many IMs these people are sending each day.  Thanks.

Go to the Reports section of

Go to the Reports section of the admin interface. On the left under Detail Reports, click Messages. Choose a type and date range. At the bottom, change the first filter field to "IM Username" and put their username in the value blank. Hit submit.

Did everything you said, but

Did everything you said, but when I got to the Filter Fields, the only choice I have is Host Name.  There are three fields listed, and all of them contain Host Name with nothing in the drop down but that name.  Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks.

I can't say for certain why

I can't say for certain why that would be, but I could guess. The missing items are:

Group
IM Username
mail (AD)
Name

Perhaps you have not imported the additional items from LDAP yet, or have not registered your users. I believe you would have to complete both tasks before you could report based on those criteria.

Hostname is the defualt value is there is no AD fields present

When the LDAPUpdateService is configure to bring in additional LDAP fields (like department, mail, etc...) these are listed as part of a Traffic Report.  When you don't tell IM Manager to bring in these things they defualt will be that you will see hostname.

For the traffic report that i.m.legend mentioned you will want to make sure that you pick the right options to show you the data that you are looking for.  Here is what I would do:

1. Open the IM Manager Admin Web UI
2. Click on Reports->Detail Reports->Messages
3. In the Select Report Type, select the first option (Daily Report)
4. In the Date Range section, select the 3rd option (Last Month)
5. In the Select Data Vaules select the 1st Option (number of messages)
6. In the Networks leave all the values selected for all the IM protocols.
7. In the optional Filters, in the first drop-down, select 'IM Username'
8. In the value field to the right enter in the user's login name (like bubbles99)
9. Press Submit.

That should give you the pure # of message that login send and recieved for the last month broken down by day.

A more interesting report might be doing a Field Report for Recipient IM and Sender IM, with no filters.  That would help show everyone's # of message sent and recieved and shoe comparaive data.

To do that do these steps:
1. Open the IM Manager Admin Web UI
2. Click on Reports->Detail Reports->Messages
3. In the Select Report Type, select the fourth option (Field Report)
4. In the Drop down list, select Sender IM
5. In the Date Range section, select the 3rd option (Last Month)
6. In the Select Data Vaules select the 1st Option (number of messages)
7. In the Networks leave all the values selected for all the IM protocols.
8. Press Submit.
