media server disaster recovery/redirection

This issue has been solved. See solution.

good morning,

i have 1 be2010 server on datacenter and 1 be2010 media server on customer site (acually as target for all customer's servers and pcs).

this solution to install a media server on clients' side what picked because of the VERY slow line from the customer to the dc (<2 mbit).

anyway, just asking how can i make a copy of the media server on our be2010 server in the datacenter (somethink like mirroring) in case that we lost the remote media server?

thank you.

Hi,

You need to look at the CASO option within BE which is a licensed agent.

This allows you to replicate your job logs and device information to the CASO server in the data center, and in the case of a backup server failure on your site, allow you to back up the remaining servers on that site.

This type of backup would go across your WAN...you cannot target something on the local site unfortunately.

Read the TN below for more information on the CASO option:

Thanks!

thank you, but i am asking how to MIRROR the data on the remote media server on the datacenter be, something like a mediaset duplicationcopy.

add.:

i have successfully done it with replicate media set job. still guessing if it is the best way...

...that would be the only way. Alternatively ship a tape (if backing up to tape) to the data center, catalog the tape there and then restore...

i suppose the customer will kill me for that :)

btw, i have done it creating a local dedup on remote media server AND SHARING it with the master be in dc.

bye!
