I've been receiving a media write error(84) error when doing a MS-Windows backup on a client to a datadomain.  Our entire environment is Windows (Master, media, client, etc.).

There are other clients in the policy and none of them get that error.  You can see files are backed up and if you go to do a Restore the files are there, but this error is consistant.  Here is the detailed status:

I saw that post to and we're looking to reach out to DD.

What's strange is I did some tests and ran backups to tapes also and got the same error.

Same error to tape?

Please post job details of failed tape backup. Please also ensure that you have bptm log enabled on the media server.

What makes me doubt that the SAME error is seen on tape as on DD are the following lines in job status:

6/14/2012 1:18:29 AM - Critical bptm(pid=6592) image write failed: error 2060046: plugin error
6/14/2012 1:18:29 AM - Critical bptm(pid=6592) sts_get_image_prop failed: error 2060046: plugin error
6/14/2012 1:18:36 AM - Error bptm(pid=6592) cannot write image to disk, Invalid argument

Ah' you're right. It was a media write error, but it looks like a bad tape.  I just tried another tape and there were no issues.

I'll contact DD tomorow.
