Merge Duplicate Devices

I merged 295 devices and 2 days later I have 95 more, some of the same that was already merged. What is happening? And what do I need to do?

import

I've seen this before and in fact Its happening to my system right now. I've called into Altiris and what this seems to be is an import from a connector. For instance, I'm importing information from the DS throught the DS Scrape and I'm importing information from our Active Directory through the AD connector... How do we fix this? good question. All the engineers told me to do was to review how I'm doing my imports. but I would look there first. Hope this helps. Stop by the Altiris chat if you have any questions.

merging duplicate devices

If you are merging devices that may have been named something else and are coming into Altiris with a new name but the NS sees them as the same because they have the same MAC address therefore creating duplicate devices and even after you merge them they come back again the next day it's because in your AD connector rules you have not set the import to only import devices that have been active in the domain for X number of days. AD keeps computer accounts regardless of whether or not they are active for however many days your sys admin has set so even if you delete them from Altiris, when AD import rules run it brings them right back in. In order to avoid this change your import rules to only import computers that have been active in the domain for 20 days. This should help a lot.
