  • 1.  Merging Two SEP Sites?

    Posted Mar 08, 2014 04:10 PM

I've recently aquired a SEP 12.1 enviroment that I'd like to re-work but I was curious if anyone knew of some documentation they could point me to regarding merging two SEP sites?  It seems pretty straight forward but I want to be sure I don't make a mistake here.

We have one SEP site with two SEPM management servers that handle the bulk of our enviroment.  This site uses a SQL server.

There was a second SEP site that was created to handle our Virtual desktops that uses an internal SQL database.

I was thinking of creating a seperate bucket in my SQL SEP site and create a new installation package that will drop these virtual desktops into the correct bucket from the get go.  Is this the best way to migrate those workstations over to another site?

Thanks in advance for any advice or any help locating the correct information.

You could do it that way and get everything upgraded in one shot.

Or you could just replace the sylink file on those clients using the SEPM per this article:

Restoring client-server communications with Communication Update Package Deployment

Once the clients are moved over than you can upgrade.

Either way works though :) Whatever is easiest for you.

You can replace the sylink using client deployment wizard

    Hello,

we need to create the replication between two sites once the both sites are equal in number of clients then you can decommision one site.
