Messaging Gateway Encrypted Attachments vs Unscanable Mail
Hi
I am currently using Messaging Gateway 10.0.1-2 . I am about to configure a policy for unscanable e-mails and want to still use the defualt policy for encrypted attachments
Encrypted Attachment: Modify subject line with "[WARNING - ENCRYPTED ATTACHMENT NOT VIRUS SCANNED
The policy for unscanable e-mail would put the message in the spam quarantine
Does anyone has expirience with this kind of policy combination? It should put unscanable e-mai attachments in the quarantine and only modify the subject line for encrypted attachments.But.................since the encrypted attachment is also unscanable would that cause problems in terms of putting mails with encrypted attachments in quarantine, which would be a bad idea.If anyone has used this combination please let me know
Thanks in advance

The Symantec Messaging Gateway can detect encrypted attachments versus unscannable for other reasons. You can use both of these policies.
However, if the attachment was encrypted by some non-standard means, or is damaged, or otherwise cannot be determined as encrypted, it still may hit the unscannable rule; but that is usually not an issue.

Hi , I am using this as well . As you know ,both policies are under Virus . For encrypted emails ,I will just let them go (Deliver normally) .For unscannable email ,I will put them under Spam .
