Microsoft Exchange Service Pack 2
Updated: 22 May 2010 | 7 comments
I was wondering if anyone had installed Microsoft Exchange Service Pack 2 in their VCS clusters yet? I intend to follow the guidelines Veritas published for Exchange SP1, but I'd prefer other people to find the problems first!

Hello,
While we have been testing with the beta versions of SP2, we have not yet qualified the GA version of the service pack. At this time, it is not recommended to install SP2 for Exchange in a VCS cluster.

Maintenance Pack 1 for SFW and SFW/HA 4.3 should be available very shortly. MP1 will support Exchange 2003 SP2.
MP1 is now available. I haven't installed it yet, but when I have, I think I'll wait for others' experiences before installing Exchange SP2!

Hi!
What's the minimum requirement (MP1 or MP2) in order to upgrade Exchange 2003 from SP1 to SP2?
I found this SCL ftp://ftp.support.veritas.com/pub/support/products/tfile/1177703237786.Veritas_SCL_SF_Windows_4.3v1.8_FINAL.pdf stating Exchange 2003 SP2 supported only with SFW 4.3 MP2.

Hello,
For SFW/HA 4.3, MP2 is the only version that has been tested and is officially supported for Exchange 2003 SP2. If running SFW/HA 4.3 GA or MP1, it would be necessary to upgrade to SP2 prior to performing the Exchange upgrade.
Although it is quite possible there would be no issues with MP1, since it has not been tested, if issues did arise, it would most likely be necessary to upgrade to MP2 before Symantec Support would be able to engage their Engineering team for assistance.
Cheers,
rjhanley
