    Hello there,

I have serveral windows servers (2003 & 2008) scheduled to be installed with November and December 2013 patches which have some patches require server restarted to be effective and installation completed. Most of servers are finshed smoothly. Some servers are stuck at pending restart and stopped conitinue to install other patches and hang there for half day or until maintenance window is out.

Would you please advice on how to get a managed client (both windows 2003 and 2008) out of pending restart and continue the patch installation either by manual or auto, please.

For one server, I tried to reset the Altiris client SMA agent (by hitting the "Reset Agent" button under Task Status tab), it hung at "Received request to stop running tasks" for maybe forever.

    Thank you,

    Charlie.

    Hello Charlie,

Sounds like the Core Agent or Patch Plug-in are hung on a process. Check the Client Logs during the time of reboot to see what the issue is. Search for 'change' or 'state' to isolate that process changing over to 'reboot.' You should be able to see what the process is that is hanging the reboot, or try a check of the OS Event Viewer / Windows Logs and see if anything populated there.

    Hope this helps,

    Joshua
