This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

First escuse me for my english wich is not good

I would like some more information to migrate Backup Exec 11d Rev: 7170 to 2010.

From what I understand this migration is in 2 time 11d to 12 and then to 2010.

What is the procedure to do this migration?

does it necessarily put agents (eg Exchange, SharePoint, etc.) updated to version 2010 (I think it should be better)? If so, What is the procedure?

Thank you for your cooperation.

Cordially.

Kcrozes

It is possible to upgrade BE

It is possible to upgrade BE 11d directly to BE 2010.

Upgrade procedure is better explained in the following document...

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH137024

For roll back purposes some lower versions of remote agents will support with next versions of media servers.

But it is recommended to have the remote agents as the same version of media servers.

For remote agent installations check out Pg 140 on BE2010 admin guide...

It´s very easy

Well man, I think that have the awnsers for your questions;

1. Consult the compability list before migration;

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/329254.htm

2. Consult the technote 67296 regarding an example of migration

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH67296&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1285756620926

3. See more details in backup exec web site

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=landing&key=15047

About benefits to Backup Exec will depend of your environment but is truth  that have new excelent features.

RE: does it necessarily put agents (eg Exchange, SharePoint, etc

Backup Exec will support Remote Agents one version down  from the media server, but "only for the purpose of rolling upgrades"  To meet the licensing policy, all  Remote Agents must be at the same version as your media server (preferably at the same build level)

The v11 database agents will NOT work with an upgraded media server
