Migrate Backup Exec 2012 to New Server

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Trying to migrate 2012 from our 2003 server to a 64bit 2008 server - I've read through a few migration guides and notice this migration path is unsupported however its so close to being complete!

I've copied the Catalog and BEX files from the Data folder, copied the database using BEUtility launched Backup Exec 2012 and all the jobs are there looks good.. however no Media is showing up at all. No offline tapes or media sets.. The new server has a new server name so I ran through the command line options to change the DB name from the old to the new and this hasn't made a difference..

Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

Hi Pete,

I've moved from Windows Server 2003 x32 to Windows Server 2008 R2 with no issues. It was the same version of BE as well (BE 2010 R3).

The TN below will tell you how to do that, or fill in the missing steps you are still required to do:

Thanks!

Hi Craig,

Thats one of the guides I followed, We are using BE 2012, just wondering if it requires more tinkering?

I believe the media information is kept in the database along side the jobs and selection lists, which have migrated successfully. Unsure what else to try?

Cheers

Fixed my own problem, appears you need to have a tape drive plugged in for it then to display tape media section! kinda presumed this would just show up as the info was in the database!.. obviously not :)
