This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi All,

I have SEP Manager 11.0.6300.803 with the embedded database and approximately 600 SEP Clients. Our database backup is almost 4 GB and we have already applied policy (application and device)  and GUP.

Right now, I have the new physical server (with different IP address and hostname) and I also want to migrate our embedded database to SQL Server.

I also want to upgrade SEP Manager to MR7 version at my new server.

There are a few things that I want to ask :

1. Is it possible to change our management console with the different IP address and hostname ? If yes, what procedure should I follow regarding I have different physical server and also different IP address/hostname without lose communication to our clients ? My point is a little effort to migrate it.

Can you explain the step by step procedure / direction so I don't take a wrong way and keep in the right path ?

2. If I want to upgrade SEP Manager to v. MR7 at new server, is it OK to install it directly at the new one or I should first install with MR6P3 and then upgrade later ?

I appreciated with any your suggestion, thanks ....

Here is a good article explaining the steps for moving a SEPM.

How to move Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager from one machine to another

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

NOTE: The version installed to the new server must be the same version as on the old server. The new management console can be migrated to a newer version once the transition is complete.

Moving this thread to the Endpoint Protection forum for better visibility.

You can go directly with the latest version i.e. MR7
